Eternal Spring Exhibition Opening @Anacostia Arts Center

“Artist Matt Hollis exhibits a new series of ‘petals on canvas’ in Eternal Spring. These bold, graphic works are each comprised of hundreds of fake flower petals, sewn into layers on fabric and mounted on canvas. The assemblages condense the allure and sensuality of nature and represent the power that both art and organic forms have to mesmerize and attract the viewer.” 6-8PM. Free.

Cherry Blast: Art + Music Dance Party @Blind Whino

Cherry Blast thrills visitors with a multi sensory, multimedia extravaganza. Cherry Blast: Art + Music Dance Party showcases a blossom-inspired art exhibition and an array of musical performances. BLIND WHINO, a former church turned contemporary art space, proves a colorful setting for this spirited event. The National Cherry Blossom Festival partners with Art Whino for visual programming during the night, and the arts organization curates a massive group art show featuring cherry blossom-inspired pieces (all available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the National Cherry Blossom Festival). The micro Wave project brings 3-D art installations throughout the space, and musicians, performance artists and DJs keep the party grooving until midnight. Japanese-inspired sounds accent the sets of Ursula 1000 of the Eighteen Street Lounge Label and DJ Ayescold, who spins alongside a percussionist.” 7PM-12AM. $15(in advance)/$20(door)
