Life Drawing @Hillyer Art Space

“An independent figure drawing class that allows students to work from a nude model in your choice of mediums.While easels, chairs and artistic ambiance are provided by Hillyer, artists are required to bring their own drawing materials. Space will be limited to 30 attendees. Walk-ins are welcome to join if there are seats available.” Every Monday 6-9PM. Member $10/ Non-Member $12

Mardi Gras Parade @Clarendon Courthouse

“Mardi Gras is a worldwide tradition, and Metro DC is proud to boast the largest Mardi Gras parade in the Mid Atlantic Region with some 15,000 people in attendance.   This a cultural event, bringing the very best of Cajun, Creole, Spanish, French and Louisiana Culture to the Metro DC Region, and has been sponsored by the Clarendon Alliance for 17 years.    Many local organizations, Causes, marchers, dancers and High Schools participate, and this years parade will prove to be a welcome event in light of the recent weather the region has had. ” Starts at 8PM at the Courthouse end of Wilson in Clarendon near the Bayou Bakery. Free event.

Gallery Talk: Picturing Mary Themes @The National Museum of Women in the Arts

“Bite-size lunchtime talks are offered most Wednesdays throughout the special exhibition, Picturing Mary: Woman, Mother, Idea. This week, Chief Curator Kathryn Wat illuminates the exhibition’s themes and artworks.” From 12PM-12:30PM. Free event.

Spain, Flamenco, and the Piano @The Phillips Collection

“In a special collaboration with the PostClassical Ensemble’s Iberian Mystics: The Confluence of Faiths Festival, March 10–12, 2015, The Phillips Collection presents Spanish pianist Pedro Carboné in a thought-provoking program,Spain, Flamenco, and the Piano, with narration from author Antonio Muñoz Molina. ”

“The [last day of the] first exhibition in the Do You Know Where Your Art Comes From? series. Locally Sourced features over 200 small works and multiples in a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, hand silk-screens, digital prints, photography, collage, sculpture, video, and more.”
